USG-Umweltservice GmbH was founded in 1996 to implement the leading cooling appliance demanufacturing technology, SEG, in the Austrian market. A quality standard was developed with all stakeholders based on practical experiences and this was formalised into Austrian law. This law fixed the minimum standard and fair competitive conditions, and was the basis for the joint investment of USG and Energie AG Oberösterreich Umwelt Service GmbH in the first stationary cooling appliance demanufacturing system, SEG, in 4850 Timelkam. The system was awarded the RAL quality seal, even today it represents a reference for qualitative cooling appliance demanufacture, and it was built up in many European countries using the same modular structure as SEG with their JV partners.
The strong growth of the SEG JV partners with a capacity of over 3.3 million cooling appliances brought about a specialisation where USG-Umweltservice GmbH focused on the marketing of plastics from the cooling appliance demanufacture in the group. Our own methodology for the production of CO2 certificates from the CFCs contained in old cooling appliances was also developed by USG, which is now available to the voluntary market globally.
